Telling Lime Products – Natural Hydraulic Lime
Telling Lime Products manufacture and are distributors for a range of natural lime mortar products for various applications, together with stabilisation and consolidation grouts, Telling Brick Mesh reinforcement and lime paints and finishes. The natural hydraulic lime products replicate the strength, porosity, adhesion, vapour permeability and flexibility of historic mortars.
Unilit mortars conform to European Standard ENV 495-1, NHL 2-3, 5 for natural hydraulic lime mortars. The products are manufactured using a modern day manufacturing process, are guaranteed against failure for 10 years and are warranted against defect under a professional indemnity insurance. Telling also manufacture a range of bonding agents for use with Unilit mortars. Specify one of the Unilit bonding layers in clause 541, and a range of plaster and render undercoat and finishing layers, specify these in clauses 310 and 330. For Natural Hydraulic Lime Pointing and bedding mortars see relevant clauses in sections C41, F10, F20, F21, F22, F30.
Telling Brick Mesh
The use of Telling Brick Mesh, expanded stainless steel mesh coated with nodules of fired clay, is recommended where there is a likelihood of structural movement, and for application over timber framed areas, large voids, suspended ceilings, and differential backgrounds. Telling Brick Mesh is an expanded stainless steel mesh coated with nodules of clay, which are fired onto the intersections of the mesh, to ensure fusion of lime mortar to the natural mineral. The use of Telling Brick Mesh produces a mineral bond in addition to the physical key, ensuring the adhesion of the mortar to the mesh. Telling Brick Mesh can be moulded and shaped for formation of features, cornices and architectural profiles. Stainless steel fixings should be used to ensure the secure fixing of the mesh to the substrate. Telling Brick Mesh is supplied in rolls of 1.05m x 6m, with a nominal thickness of 7mm.
Properties/Benefits: Telling Brick Mesh is easily moulded into shape and retains shape/form, saves mortar in comparison to traditional laths, double bonded through mineral and mechanical bonding of plaster, and can be plastered by hand or mechanically.
Uses: Suspended Ceilings. Repair of e.g. Cracks. Stainless steel lathing, Restoration of church vaults, humid areas, swimming pools, exterior fa?des and internal plasters (including lath and plaster) with or without insulation, architectural features, water park ornaments and simulated rock formations.
